> What Is My Real Status In Us ?
I have a big question... let me explain my situation first....I came to US in 2005 on F1 visa, completed masters in nursing here, during OPT worked as a full time nurse (RN) in 2006. a hospital sponsored me for change of status, my I-140 got approved 2 months back. I have got my work permit also and just going to start work in a couple of weeks. but....now the issue is that in July 2007 when my OPT was about to expire and at the same time my I-140 was sent to the USCIS department, I enrolled myself in a 1 year certificate program at one university and maintained my F1 status during that critical time. I have completed 1 quarter of my education and I am in 2nd quarter now. yesterday when I approached my international affairs officer in order to drop off my remaining classes, because according to the approved I140, approved work permit and USCIS has received my I485 application and I just submitted my fingerprints 2 days back....I thought now I don't have to maintain my student visa status... but she was little concerned about it... and gave me 2 forms to fill out before I drop off the classes... and on those forms I have to be agree with that I am out of status after dropping off these classes... I am totally confused now.. do I need to maintain my F1 student status.. even if I have got my work permit to work as a full time Registered nurse in USA.... the reason why I got scarred before dropping off classes because that officer at my university said she has to inform SEVIS office about this all. someone told me that I need to approach USCIS local office in order to close my previous file( F1 student status) because I have my another valid status( waiting for green card with approved I140 and work permit in hands)...plzplzplz give me a way..... I talked to my attorney about this but she did not gave me any solid answer.... and my question is do I need to be a full time student while working as a full time RN and waiting for my green card....

I don't understand either what is up with it taken so long. I started my husbands in February of 2006, he has been back in his country since April of 2007 and still waiting for his appointment. I am tired of being here alone and of telling his babies that I don't know when there daddy is coming home.

If you have a valid work permit you have a status as a pending "conditional" permanent resident you don't need to maintain your F1 status. You need a federally licensed Immigration Attorney for immigration advise. A state licensed Attorney wont be able to offer you much help.
