> Too Many Foreign Students Coming To The Usa!
As a United States citizen, I have become extremely concerned with the number of foreign students coming into our country and taking opportunities away from United States citizens applying for colleges and universities. I would like to know how many student visas are granted every year. Does anyone know that? I know that there is a limit of 65,000 H-1B visas allowed every year, but is there a limit for F-1 visas? These foreign students are affecting the educational balance in the United States compared to the rest of the world. AS a United States citizen it is important to focus on providing opportunities to our college bound USA citizens and not foreign nationals!!

If we intend to get back to taking the lead in education around the world, especially in the math and science arena, it must start with our own citizens and not foreigners! Every other country and government have always focused on their own citizens first for almost everything including education. The United States is the only country that has really lost sight of that particular issue over the past couple of decades. I am from a town outside Boston where our local high schools' top 10 students did not get into their college of choice! I would almost guarantee that the foreign students were accepted instead! This makes me very angry!!!!

It is my intention to pursue and investigate the statics surrounding the growing increase of foreign born students taking college slots over US college bound citizens. Can anyone help me with some statistics?

I think that you are too extreme in blaming foreign students. The educational system in the United States is already corrupted enough. At the end, it is the foreigners who pay twice, three times more to support it, don't you think.
It is not true to say that your country does not care about its own citizens. Being a former foreign student myself, I can tell you that everything is made to facilitate and help citizens IF they want to study. The thing is that many of them don't want to.
Don't see why you get frustrated at us. lol

Satonja, isn't it odd that you blame the existence of foreign students as the reason why many Americans refuse to go to school? Call it culture or influence, but it seems many Americans are just satisfied with finishing high school. In our country, it is parent's obligation to send children to finish college otherwise, they would think they fail as parents. Our high school graduates could not get a decent job so we need to finish college. We also have high regards to people who have a bachelors degrees.
I don't think taking foreign students out of the picture would entice Americans to go to school. You go to school because you want to upgrade yourself, not because of schoolmates.
