> The American Dream Came Through
My name is Patricia and I experienced the "American Dream". Many years ago I moved from my home country to become a student in the U.S.A. I finished a bachelor degree in finance and took advantage of an internship opportunity with a large company in the L.A. I guess I must have impressed them because the manager said after 6 months that he wanted me to stay with the company and that they would do the paperwork for the H-1B visa. I have now worked for the same company since and they sponsored me for my green card last year which I now have in my wallet. I can now live and work anywhere in the U.S.A. but I will continue to work for the same company that helped me achieve the American Dream.

To all of you out there that think you cannot, let me tell you - you can! Just work hard and never stop believing!

Hi Patty,

I was just browsing this website, as i am starting to look into moving over to the USA as i have family over here, although there not blood relatives, there my family through marriage, do you think i stand a chance of getting a Green Card relatives....

I have wanted to move over here since i was 16, im now 22 and i feel its time i spread my wings a little bit... but im a lil stuck as to how to get the ball rolling, i only see my family over here 2 weeks out of the year... which sucks!!

I was wondering if you could guide me in anyway at all!?

Hopefully hear from you soon

Hi Lucy01,

It is my understanding that you need to be an immediate relative in order to green card through your relatives. I am not sure about extended family. If so, I am sure you would have wait years before you get a green card. The easiest for you is to be student in the U.S. That will give you many years to figure out what you want to do. It did for me! Whoever runs this website has some information on the whole family and student thing in the U.S. Maybe getting some books or talk to other people in your situation is the best thing.

Good luck!

Patty

Hi patty,

I came to USA on B1 business visa and applied for L1 business visa. My L1 visa is aaproved a week ago. I heard after L1 and H1 green card could be applied.
Please inform :

1. After how long you applied for green card after H1 and how long it took you to get green card, i mean how many years the whole process took uptill green card.

2. Please advise that is it necessary to go back to home country for visa stamping after approval or should i go to my home country for stamping L1 as i just have approval?

Thanks.
