Hi, everyone,
I lived in the US for nearly thirteen years. I entered with an
F-1 visa in 1986. I was a student in every sense of the word. My father and uncle, who was born in America, signed an affidavit on my behalf to support my education. However, two years later, he
reneged on it, and I had to leave university. It was a very painful moment, as I had taken care not to break any laws in America. Acquaintances, however, encouraged me to take up menial jobs to
support myself, and I lost my immigration
status. I must also say that I always held the US in the highest regard and identified with it, loving it as my own country.
In 1994, I suffered from a physical attack in New Jersey, which left me with a very painful mental illness, and I became almost handicapped. In 1997, I was detained by the INS (which did not consider my ailment) for one and a half years, as I pursued a case with the immigration court, after which I was deported for having benign delusions about the First
Family. Today, I make a living, teaching English and writing in my native country. I am soon to be published. I still love America and Americans. I look to the future, and perhaps, one day I will return. I wish you all success in your future plans.
Blessings
