> My Husband Needs Something Extra From The Embassy.., After the CR-1 Interview
Okay,

My husband and I were married in August 2008. I went to Egypt and married him there. We did it legally through the Egyptian Foreign Ministry. I then returned to the USA, as I am a US Citizen. I started the CR1 Immigration papers on November 30,2008. I flew to Egypt with my oldest daughter in May 2009 to spend the summer with my husband. We tried to get the interview expedited, as I was there for almost four months, however expedite was denied twice by Cairo. The reason for the expedite was because I also have two other children, whom I have physical custody for, back in the states from a previous marriage, under the age of 4 waiting for mommy to return. Also, I had a job waiting for me, but did not feel comfortable leaving Egypt unless my husband's interview was scheduled.

Since, it was taking so long, I contacted a US Congressman from Minnesota to help us get the interview expedited. He did and the interview was scheduled for October 15, 2009. Both, my husband and I called the NVC and Cairo to make sure that all of the file was complete and if we needed to submit any additional information. Both offices told us, that all that my husband needed was his medical examination forms completed by the doctor. So, thinking that was all squared away, I decided to come back to the states in September 2009, just about a month ago. I found I had lost my contract for the teaching position, because I could not come back on time, because the Embassy denied the expedite, so was able to obtain a Nanny position, just as a temporary fix.. a place to live until I find my own. Thinking also that I could find a teaching position in the middle of the year which would be ideal.

My husband went for his interview on his scheduled date. The interviewer asked him strange questions, ones, he already had answers to. My husband said there was a huge silence, like he had no more questions, but had to fill the interview time or something to that nature. Then, finally, he said.. "Everything looks great, but you need one other thing, your file is complete, as we have told you, your medical is passed and so is your background check, but you need a joint" All that my husband is told to send back to the Embassy is a copy of anyone's, no income stipulation stated, 2008 1040 Tax Return. It can be anyone's.. There is no signature required or anything. "Just" a 1040. The Interviewer told my husband that this is something easy to find. He was an American, and he told my husband this. If this is true, why didn't he just hand his over?

So, now, what do I do? I have contacted CAIR, the Congressman from Minnesota and a Senator from Florida, but if I can get a 1040 from someone, my husband will be able to obtain his Conditional Residency Green Card in two weeks.. IS there anyone out there who can help me??? I just want my husband and me to be together. I love his family and him so much!! He, the interviewer, even took my husband's passport and told him they would return it with his Visa once they get the 1040. I just wish there was someone out there who has had similar difficulty with a US Embassy on foreign country soil, who would be more than willing to help us. This is totally unbelievable that they did this! I think it is just because we went over their heads to get the interview, a Congressional Inquiry was made.., that they are trying to get us back with this. It is totally not fair, and my husband is so depressed, because he really just wants to be with us here and support us. What is wrong with a husband wanting to support his family and giving us the best life ever? The following is the link to the form of which I speak. If anyone can help us.. it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

marissanabiel
