I recently received my GC (2 months ago) and I am temporarily based here in Commonwealth Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), a commonwealth of the United States. Something has changed that I had to moved back here from Guam last year, and that I am needed here in our office in the CNMI and not in our office in Guam. I was informed that I need to get a
re-entry permit so I can be out of the US Soil up to 2 years, and still maintain my GC, since the CNMI is not a US soil. Is this correct? Do I also need to file my income tax in Guam even though I'm currently employed here in the CNMI? Or is it okay to file it in the CNMI and not affect my status? Is the re-entry permit renewable? Thanks.
