My situation is; I am employed under L1 status but have married a US citizen. We have sent all the paperwork in, including the I-485 application for Permanent Residence/Change of Status and the I-765 Employment Authorization.

My question is; can I safely resign from my L1 sponsoring company, and not have to leave the USA? I understand that, once I filed the I-485 I am no longer considered under L1 status and I can therefore resign without concern.

I understand I cannot accept another job until my Employment Authorization Card is received, I simply want to know whether I can resign from my current one.
