Here's my situation: I have a
green card issued because I have married an American citizen. Last fall, my 15 year old daughter (who's from Canada) came over and lived with us into the US: that was an emergency situation and we didn't file any immigration papers, we were not sure if she would stay with us permanently or not. Now, she wants to stay in the US but my husband don't want to file any papers for her, what should I do? Is there a way to get a student visa? She has 2 years of high school left and after, she will go back to Canada to study in
medicine. I have full custody of my daughter, I have the official papers from the Canadian court.
For myself, I am about to divorce so my employer is working on changing my status to a
work visa (because I work in Health care and there is a huge shortage). I don't need to have my US citizenship, I just want to work and have permission to live in the US. Thank you for your help...
