I've been working for my company over six years including the OPT period. They try to apply the labor certificate for me, but due to the economy, they don't want to spend too much money to fly in other "qualified candidates" for the interviews. So I will be leaving the country in the next couple months. I've searched online and there are inconsistency in regards of how long the grace period is once my H1B expires. Does anyone know the answer?

In present, the utmost duration of the H1-B is 6 years. If you want to work in US after 6 years but not obtained for Permanent residence must remain outside the US for one year before reapplying for another H-B1 Visa.
