> Getting The Runaround On Gc Replacement
My mother lost her green card 2 years ago and has gone through the channels twice in the two years in efforts to get her replacement green card. The forms were filled out, money paid, confirmation that they received payment and that a card will be sent. 6 months later there was no green card and the process had to be done again. First the system sent her payment back and said that she already paid the first time and then 3 months later said that she had to pay the fee. As of late the system reported that she needed a copy of her birth certificate as they can't find it. She has been in the US for over 46 years now legally, obviously she had all of the required paperwork to get the card in the first place that should have been enough for validation. I am frustrated because I'm her son and can't do anything to help as my dad has to do it and this is hard on him health wise and operating his business. There should be a fast track to help people who have been here that long in getting their required documents like the green card. She wants to naturalize but can't until she has her card. If they can verify that she is in the system, why can't she go ahead and apply for citizenship rather than having to go through all of this first? If anyone can shed some light on this please let me know.

Meustis,

Don't try to fight the system. You need to talk to someone. I suggest you check out the INFO PASS system that USCIS has. See if you can get an appointment.

It sounds like something went wrong with the address. So, I am not surprised that this is taking time. But, you will eventually get it sorted. Hang in their Bro'!

Sarja,

My mother and father have been to the offices with appointments and its been frustrating. I think her case hit as the switch from immigration to USCIS was happening. What frustrates me is that she is in the system legally; I know because I called and talked to USCIS. If she is in the system I don't see the problem. I understand security and today's view, but she is verifiable, she is law abiding. My years of service to this country linking me to her would also verify her status. We as a nation appear to be screening for worst case scenarios and sometimes the ones who are trying to do the right thing legally get caught in the "Oops Factor" and are delayed longer than what it should take. If anything I get to vent on the forum.
