> How Long Does Application For Visa Take?
Hi, my name is Sheila
I am from Ireland and my boyfriend is from New York. We have applied for the petition for my visa to move over there and marry within the 90 days. We met in Australia over 2 years ago and now have a beautiful 7 month old son, we are now living apart as I returned home to Ireland with my son and my boyfriend returned to US to set up home for us and apply for the visa. The thing is we are hoping this application does not take too long as the baby is growing so fast and it is very sad that his father has to miss out on so much of his first year. I was told 5 months of a wait but I think that is just crazy. Can you please tell me how long the visa will take and if there is any way I can help speed things up? I don't think it is possible for me to visit while the visa is being processed and it is very difficult for my boyfriend to take too much time off work to come here, plus it is expensive... If any body has any advise it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Sheila!

I know how you feel. I am going through the same process, I was married in January of 2006. I filed the case in May of 2006 and I filed it here in the U.S.A. the process took about 12 months and it was sent to my husbands country Pakistan in April 2007. He then got his Interview date in September of 2007 and we are still waiting for the clearance. Maybe in your country it might take only 6-9 months. Have your husband call the National Visa Center, maybe they might give him some answers. There is another option its called K-3 or K-4 visa it is a temporary visa that you can come to the America and the case is will still be processed. then again have your husband ask the Visa Center. Best Of Luck!!!!
