I'm completing my B.A. in journalism/public relations this Spring. If I apply for the Employment Third Preference Visa soon, without having a U.S. employer lined up, what are the chances of me receiving a working visa?

Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated!!

With a BA you should be able to get a job on an H-1B visa. I would recommend you to contact journalism/PR companies that have sponsored foreign citizens before. You will NOT get a job without an employer lined up.

However, there are many ways to work in the US through a Q-1 or J-1 visa. DO NOT go to the U.S. to look for a job on a tourist visa.
