> My Dream Is To Become An American Citizen
I was born in a small city in a province outside of Jakarta, Indonesia on May 5, 1969. My childhood was very good until the communist rebellion happened in September 30, 1965. After that event I was a living very dangerously. Once the rebellion was overthrown we got a new government, which made the relationship between Indonesia and the United States much better. The closest relationship was during the Kennedy presidency. Many Americans who did business came to Indonesia, particularly in the oil industry. With the American investors came the American missionaries. Indonesia had grown and was categorized as a new industrialized country. In this era, I could finish my education and finally get a bachelor degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology. After that I worked in Indonesian Aerospace Industries, Ltd. which was established in 1976. I met many Americans and got many good friends. I visited the United States for the first time in 1994. During my visit I saw the Boeing Commercial Airplane, Mac Donald Douglas (DC Airplanes), Disneyland and of course Hollywood. Unfortunately, our new government became authoritarian and corrupted. With some riots the government collapsed in June 1998. Although we have successfully raised a democratic government, there are still economic crisis. I lost my job too. Almost all the American businesses and investors have gone from Indonesia, and we suffer from several tsunamis and some earthquakes. I am currently in the United States right now for a temporary visit. I look at America as good country to live my life in. But I don't find any way to get a permission to stay there and work. To become an American Citizen is my dream. God Bless America.
