I am New Zealand citizen working in the USA at a ski field on a H2B visa.

My visa expires on the 30th of April so I have to leave USA on the 10th of May.

My plan is to go to Canada on the 10th of May to travel for 2 weeks then fly back to New Zealand via a few hours in Los Angeles airport. This will mean I will have to transit through the USA.

Since my H2B visa will have expired will they grant me a visa to stay in transit in LA airport under the visa waiver program?? or do I have to apply for a C1 transit visa??

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
