I am trying to help a dear friend of mine become a citizen.
He was born in Mexico and is 21 years old. He has lived here since he was 2 years old. He has gone through all of his schooling here and he has worked here legally up until the recent laws where
social security numbers have been revoked. And having said that he has also been paying taxes on his income as well.
He is here on a b1 - b2 visa that expires in 2012. He has his visa card and a Mexican passport. He however does not have is
I-94 (or whatever number the government calls the form that says when you came into the country) His mother had that document. His mother was murdered a year and a half ago and the man who murdered her (my friends stepfather) destroyed every document she had in her safe including the I-94. (I'm not sure but from my research it seems as though he has overstayed his
Visa....I don't know how that will affect things)
We have contacted a few lawyers to hire and help us and the only one that has gotten back to us did not even attempt to sound helpful. He basically said to marry a citizen.
Please give us some hope
